Abstract

The surface of the cylinder (1) coming into contact with the cast metal has a roughness which varies continuously along any generatrix of the cylinder (1). The roughness is generally greater in the end zones (4, 5) of the cylinder (1) than in the central zone (6). The roughness may be obtained by burnishing or by machining with removal of flakes. <IMAGE>
