WO 2007/123954 PCT/US2007/009495 HAIR REPLACEMENT FOR WOMEN CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION [0001] This application claims priority from U. S. Provisional Application No. 60/792,953, filed on April 19, 2006, which is incorporated herein by reference. FIELD OF INVENTION [0002] The present invention relates to a non-surgical hair replacement, i.e., wig, designed to duplicate a women's hair loss area. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION [0003] A hairpiece for men and a method of making same is disclosed in Publication No. US 2006/0081267, which is incorporated herein by reference. [0004] However, women experience difference hair loss patterns than men. Accordingly, there is a need for a high quality, affordable, natural looking hair replacement that is specifically designed for women. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION [0005] The present invention relates to a wig that has been specifically designed to address hair loss conditions of women. This wig is made in two designs (i) top of the head or 3/4 cap and (ii) full cap. Both of these designs can be made in either stock/pre-inventory or custom made. The cap design is preferably carried in stock in one size to accommodate women with hair loss on the top of the head. The full cap design is preferably carried in stock in 3 different sizes, i.e., 54, 55, or 56 centimeters. The two designs are constructed to address the various types of hair loss -1- WO 2007/123954 PCT/US2007/009495 that women may suffer. The full cap design remedies the most extreme types of hair loss such as Alopecia Aerate, Alopecia Totalis and Alopecia Universals as well as hair loss due to Chemotherapy and Radiation. [0006] The full cap is designed with cut away sections, i.e., the "keys," that allow the wig to be adjusted to fit the average women's head size. The keys are made of a polyurethane material that can be cut into, adjusted and then sewn back together to give the most comfortable fit. The keys allow the wig fitter to "customize" the full cap design to fit the woman's head shape by removing or adding sections as needed. The woman benefits greatly as this customizing may be done in most situations while the woman is waiting. According to the present invention, in most cases, women suffering from hair loss may solve their hair loss needs in only one visit because the designs, both the 3/4 and full cap, may be customized to fit the woman's head shape and hair loss areas while the woman waits. Accordingly, the present invention allows women to receive a high quality product that in most cases can be fitted on the first visit. [0007] The materials used are the finest available. The full cap preferably uses five (5) different materials in five (5) different sections, as further described below. The five (5) different materials help accommodate different types of knotting procedures and quantities of hair and hair direction. The different sections and materials used help depict natural hair growth and aid in comfort and fit. The hair used in both designs is preferably a combination of fine Indian and European hair, which is typically a source of the highest quality hair. Preferably, the hair is hand selected for quality, softness, shine, wave pattern and color. [0008] The color choices represent the most popular shades found in nature and high end dramatic color selections. A color ring is used to give women a wide selection of hair color choices and to make the hair replacement. The hair replacement of the present invention has between five (5) to fourteen (14) different hair color shades blended into each color selection so -2- WO 2007/123954 PCT/US2007/009495 that light may be reflected and give a variety of shade and tone differences. This color blend gives the hair replacement for women of the present invention the most natural look. [0009] It is an object of the present invention to provide a high quality, mass produced, affordable hair replacement available to women generally. [0010] It is another object of the present invention to provide a mass produced hair replacement for women of superior quality due to the workmanship, attention to detail and exact hair growth depiction. [0011] It is another object of the present invention to provide a hair replacement for women of superior comfort and durability. [0012] It is another object of the present invention to provide a hair replacement for women that can be fitted on a first visit, contrary to the usual six (6) to twelve (12) week waiting time generally needed for custom 3/4 or full caps. [0013] It is a further object of the present invention to provide a hair replacement for women comprising a reinforced back area, wherein the reinforced back area comprises horizontal, horseshoe shaped polyurethane lines and polyurethane tabs or keys, wherein the polyurethane can be adjusted to fit the woman's head. [0014] It is a further object of the present invention to provide a hair replacement for women comprising front and side hairline areas comprised of coated lace. [0015] It is a further object of the present invention to provide a woman's hair replacement, wherein the hair is knotted in a crisscross pattern on the top and upper crown areas, wherein the hair is knotted towards the neck in the sides of the lower nape area, and wherein the hair is knotted towards the face and down, using alternating split and flat knots, respectively, in the front side hairline area. -3- WO 2007/123954 PCT/US2007/009495 [0016] It is a further object of the present invention to provide a woman's hair replacement, wherein the different knotting regions are blended together to avoid directional breaks. [0017] It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a hair replacement for women comprising hair of Indian and European origins to produce both a soft effect and to help retain life expectancy of the hair replacement. [0018] It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a woman's hair replacement, wherein the ventilation occurs in a stripe pattern on the top and in a diamond pattern in all areas but the top. [0019] It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a woman's hair replacement, wherein the hair replacement has a lighter shade on the front hairline, a medium shade predominantly in the top and crown areas, and a darker shade predominantly in the nape area. [0020] It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a woman's hair replacement, wherein the hair is darker at the roots and lighter at the ends to simulate a natural bleaching effect. [0021] It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a hair replacement for women comprising a blend of hair colors that gives the most natural results and looks more like growing hair. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS [0034] Fig. 1, is a schematic representation of the base, viewed from the back. According to a preferred embodiment, the top 17 part comprises a small hole lace, the lower crown 15 comprises a large hole lace, and the nape 13 comprises a medium hole lace. The small hole lace on top 17, the large hole lace on the lower crown 15 and the medium hole lace on the nape 13 are stitched together with single stitch lines 18, and according to a preferred embodiment, there are three (3) stitch lines 18, one (1) between each of the small, medium and large hole lace. The base from the sides to the nape 13 is lined with polyurethane 10. The polyurethane comprises tabs or keys 12, preferably three (3) tabs or keys 12, for ease of fitting and alteration of the finished hair replacement. The lower crown 15 comprises horseshoe shaped patterns of polyurethane lines 14 to allow for fitting. According to a preferred embodiment, there are five (5) horseshoe shaped polyurethane lines 14. The polyurethane lines 14 may be cut at any level of the five (5) horseshoe shaped polyurethane lines 14. The hair replacement also provides for a pleat 16 at -5- WO 2007/123954 PCT/US2007/009495 each corner of the nape 13 as well as a slight curvel9 in the bottom of the nape 13 for proper fitting. The arrows in Fig. 1 depict the direction of the rows of lace such that when the base is prepared, the lace is laid in a crisscross pattern on top 17, in a downward direction in the lower crown 15 and the center of the nape 13, and in an angle towards the neck on the lower sides of the nape 13. [0035] Fig. 2 is a schematic representation of the base, viewed from the top. The horseshoe shaped polyurethane lines 14 preferably end about 2 mm from the front edge of the hair replacement. Viewed from the top, the hair replacement comprises a large hole lace in the lower crown 15, a small hole lace on top 17, a light medium hole lace on the front 20, and a reinforced lighter medium hole lace on the front edge 22. The small lace on top 17 is attached to the light medium hole lace on the front 20 with a double stitch line 24. The light medium hole lace on the front 20 is attached to the reinforced lighter medium hole lace on the front edge 22 with a double scalloped stitch line 26. The reinforced lighter medium hole lace on the front edge 22 is attached to the polyurethane 10 with a single zigzag stitch 28. According to a preferred embodiment, the double scalloped stitch line 26 and the single zigzag stitch 28 is stitched using invisible thread. [0036] Fig. 3 is a schematic representation of the base, viewed from the side, and Fig. 4 is a schematic representation of the base, viewed from the front. Figs. 3 and 4 show the five (5) polyurethane lines 14, the stitch lines 18, the double stitch lines 24, the double scalloped stitch lines 26 and the single zigzag stitch line 28. The reinforced lighter medium hole lace is cut off to the fine edge about 2 mm below the polyurethane 10 on the finished hair replacement. [0037] Figs. 5-8 are a schematic representation of the ventilation and density, i.e., the knotting and direction of the knots. The knotting of the hair replacement of the present invention is a combination of the following knots: 1) single hair flat knot for a tight invisible effect; 2) single hair split knots for volume and movement with an invisible knot; 3) two hair flat knot for tight to -6- WO 2007/123954 PCT/US2007/009495 he head laying knots and for adding weight to the final hair replacement, 4) 3-4 hair single flat knot to adjust the volume for lighter hair colors, which are naturally not as thick in the diameter of each hair as compared to darker hair, and 5) double knotting for durability. In this regard, it is important to ensure that all changes of direction in knotting patter must be gradual to avoid sudden breaks in the flow of the hair. [0038] Fig. 5 is a schematic representation of the ventilation and density, viewed from the back. Theo lower nape 50 comprises two hair single knots in every hole and the knots are directed straight down as shown by the arrows. For lighter hair colors, i.e., color level 7 (medium blonde) and lighter, there are 3-4 hairs in every hole as the lighter hair is finer. The lower sides of the nape 52 comprise the same amount of hair per knot depending on the color and the knots are directed at a 45 degree angle toward the sides of the neck to ensure that even with short hairstyles, the hair will naturally lie flat in this area. The upper part of the nape 54, comprises two hairs in every second hole using a double knot for durability and the hair is knotted in a straight down direction. The upper sides of the nape 56 comprises two hair flat knot in every hole (3-4 hairs for lighter colored hair) and the hair is knotted straight down with a slight angle toward the ear (about 10 degrees). The lower nape 58, comprises single, flat knots, knotted in a crisscross pattern. In the middle of the lower crown 59, from the lowest polyurethane line 14 to the third polyurethane line 14, the hair is two hair (three hair with lighter colors) in every second hole using a double knot and knotted in a straight down direction. In the middle of the lower crown 59, from the third polyurethane line 14 to the fifth polyurethane line 14, the hair is two hairs (3-4 with lighter colors) in every second hole, and the hair is knotted in a pattern wherein one row is knotted straight down, the next row is knotted towards the right, and the next row is knotted towards the left, alternating these directions until just above the fifth polyurethane line 14. -7- WO 2007/123954 PCT/US2007/009495 [0039] Fig. 6 is a schematic representation of the ventilation and density, viewed from the side. In the region above the curve of the ear 60, the hair is knotted with two hair (three with lighter colors) flat knot in a downward direction towards the ear. In the region above the ear 62, the hair is knotted with two hairs in every hole with a double knot and the hair is knotted in a straight downward direction. From the lowest polyurethane line 14 to the third polyurethane line 14, the hair is two (2) hair (three hair with lighter colors) in every second hole using a double knot and knotted in a straight down direction. From the third polyurethane line 14 to the fifth polyurethane line 14, the hair is two hairs (3-4 with lighter colors) in every second hole, and the hair is knotted in a pattern wherein one row is knotted straight down and the next row is knotted towards the face, alternating these directions until just above the fifth polyurethane line 14. According to a preferred embodiment, the last row above the fifth polyurethane line 14, ends in a zigzag pattern to create an uneven line to ensure a proper transition to the top 17. [0040] Fig. 7 is a schematic representation of the ventilation and density, viewed from the top. Starting about 2 mm behind the single zigzag stitch line 28, three different densities can be created depending on the fullness desired. [0041] Density I (full): two hairs (3-4 for lighter colors) are knotted every hole using flat knots only. This creates a very full top for women who desire full hair and less movement (mainly for straight sleek styles). [0042] Density 2 (medium full): single hair split knots are alternated with two hair flat knots. This creates a medium full density with natural movement but without puff volume and is suitable for women with long layer hairstyles or for women with natural bouncy, curly textures. [0043] Density 3 (Medium): single hair is knotted with split knots only. This creates a light weight top but with a lot of volume and lift without been heavy. This density is suitable for women with finer hair volume or for children. -8- WO 2007/123954 PCT/US2007/009495 [0044] In all cases on top 17 and up to about 2 mm behind the single zigzag stitch line 28, the hair is knotted in a crisscross pattern, alternating one row to the right and one row to the left. The transition 64 between the sides and the top and front must not have a gap and preferably, meets in a zigzag pattern to ensure a smooth transition between the top, sides and back. [0045] Fig. 8 is a schematic representation of the ventilation and density, viewed from the front. In the front sides 80, two hairs (or 3) are knotted every hole of the lace in a straight down direction connecting to the double knots of the medium and large of the back. In the front side edge 82, one hair is knotted per hole, alternating flat and split knots. The flat knot are straight down and the split knots are knotted toward the face. Preferably, the sides finish in a zigzag pattern. In the front middle 84, one hair is knotted at a time, making split knots and the hair is knotted towards the forehead in a crisscross pattern (one row left and one row right). In this region, the connection with the top 17 crisscross pattern must be flawless, with no gaps. In the front middle edge 86 (about 2 mm past the polyurethane line), the hair is a single hair split knot following a zigzag pattern. Using this technique all around the hair line will create, using the front color which is the lightest, a natural uneven hair line. [0046] Figs. 9-12 are schematic representation of the color. The color ring of the present invention has the following advantages: (i) all colors are blended from (depending on the desired tonal value) from multiple color strands, (ii) all colors are graduated from darker roots (about 3 inch) to lighter ends to simulate a natural sun bleaching effect, especially on the blonder shades from a level 8 (light blonde) and up. These color details make the hair replacement of the present invention look most natural. The knotting is also done in a diamond pattern, allowing multiple highlight and low light effects, as appears in natural grown hair. [0047] Fig. 9 is a schematic representation of the color, viewed from the back. In the nape, there is a blend of about 75% darkest color 90, about 25% medium color 92 and no light color 94 -9- WO 2007/123954 PCT/US2007/009495 for a natural effect wherein the darker hair color is in the lower nape. The colors are ventilated in a diamond shape, alternating with each other. In the middle back, there is about 40-45% darkest color 90, about 45-50% medium color 92 and some 10% light color 94. There is the same diamond pattern alternating all three colors. Some front color 94 is used to avoid color breaks. In the higher back, there is about 10-25% darkest color 90, about 50-60% of medium color 92 and 25-30% of light color 94. There is a similar diamond pattern as all the other sections, but the overall color effect is gradually getting lighter to connect the top with the back without color breaks. [0048] Fig. 10 is a schematic representation of the color, viewed from the side. The side view reflects the same techniques used in the back. According to a preferred embodiment, uneven edges are provided (tips of the diamonds) to ensure a proper color blend with the top. [0049] Fig. 11 is a schematic representation of the color, viewed from the top. The entire top 17 area is done in stripe pattern, alternating the medium and the light hair color. According to a preferred embodiment, the strip pattern starts with ten rows of the medium color and five rows of the light color in the crown and then switches to ten rows of the light color and five rows of the medium color closer to front hairline. [0050] Fig. 12 is a schematic representation of the color, viewed from the front. The front edge is done only with the light color, which creates natural soft looking edges. According to a preferred embodiment, the front edge 120 is razor cut to result in the simulation of so called "baby hair" around the hairline. [0051] It is of course understood, that the color patterns can be modified depending on the desired effect. For example, if a large black streak is desired on one side, then the color pattern will have to be modified accordingly to obtain the desired effect. To follow are examples of -10- WO 2007/123954 PCT/US2007/009495 certain color blends.
