Description
0 o DESCRIPTION PractiCare DisposaPak (Hereafter DisposaPak) is a blister pack medication management tool. Essentially DisposPak is a disposable medication container with suitable divisions to assist in the effective managment of a complicated medication 00 00 regime. DisposaPak is a Dose Administration Aide designed to meet Best Practice o Guidelines in Australia and New Zealand.
r- DisposaPak is divided into four separate time slots on a daily basis being morning, o noon, dinner and night. Each DisposaPak card holds medication for one week and each day is labelled down the side of the pack Monday to Sunday. DisposaPak is a completely disposable system designed to be packaged by pharmacy and is suitable for use to minimise the spread of infection in facilities such as aged care and hospitals as well as for general use in the community. DisposaPak is designed to stop people from taking the incorrect dose of medication at the wrong time or to effectively take medications as per the prescribed regime. DisposaPak is designed to work with our software which identifies the medications packed within each compartment and confirms the dose times required. The software generated label is adhered to the reverse side of the disposable blister pack. The blisters are usually oval in shape, however they can be round or rectangular or square with a flat top or domed top. The blisters may be different sizes for different time slots to allow for the fact that many medication regimes include more tablets in morning and night time slots than at dinner or lunch time. The pack is constructed in two parts, a folder or holder usually constructed in cardboard, but potentially viable in plastics, metals or compressed fibre materials. The folder has a blank cut out side which the second part the blister is inserted into and a sealing side which when the protective glue sheet is removed adheres with a presure sensitive glue to the front side of the folder.
The blisters are constructed in a clear plasic material however any clear flexible material could be used for this purpose. The tablets are removed from the pack via sealed sections in the reverse side of the DisposaPak which are fabricated in food grade foil backed with paper. To assist in avoiding confusion the reverse of each foil section is labeled with the time slot of the medication encolsed. While the seal is made from a food grade foil backed paper this could be produced using a range of materials including foil, waterproof paper, perforated plastic or other such materials which would visually show any tampering and be easy to puncture to remove the enclosed medications.
