Abstract

The method involves sending and receiving digital binary pulse sequences controlled by a common clock and carrying out a pulse echo time analysis, converting the pulse sequences into optical pulses in a light source using the clock, emitting the light pulses while simultaneously feeding pulses into a shift register (43) for simultaneous comparison of sub-patterns after each stage of the shift register. AN Independent claim is also included for a method of determining defect locations in optical fibers.
