Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for purifyint waste water, wherein the following steps are repeatedly carried out: feeding the waste water into a reactor (1); aerating the content of the reactor; ending aeration to allow the sludge to settle; removing the purified water and the sludge. Increased yield is obtained by maintaining the reactor under a pressure, which is higher than the atmospheric pressure during aeration and removal with the aid of a counterpressure system (120). The reactor is subdivided into two chambers by a partition wall having a nozzle in the lower section thereof connecting both chambers. An overflow edge is located in the upper section so that a circulation flow is generated between the chambers of the reactor when waste water is fed to the area of the nozzle.
