Abstract

An actuating device preferably consisting of only two parts, namely a rotary member (1) and a device housing (2), can, because of the cross-sectional shape of its device housing (2), be installed in a lock, door, window or the like instead of a conventional lock cylinder of the same housing cross-section, so that the bolt of this lock can be transferred from the release position into the effective locking position, and vice versa, by means of the locking bit (13) of the actuating device. A 90 DEG -rotation of the rotary member (1) in the device housing (2) is sufficient for a complete stroke of the lock bolt. During assembly, the rotary member (1) assumes a rotary position in which, in the same way as with a lock cylinder, the locking bit (13) does not project laterally beyond the contour of the device housing (2).
