Abstract

1. A process for cleansing workpieces, which are sprinkled with alkali metal, in dipping tanks in an installation which can be sealed and rendered inert, using alcohol, characterised in that a) a limited amount of alcohol, the concentration of which can be altered, is circulated from storage containers (9 and 10) to the dipping tank (2) and through filters (6, 7, or 8) ; b) the circulated alcohol is continuously separated from impurities, mechanically and/or chemically ; c) at the beginning of the cleansing process, the workpieces are rinsed with an alcohol which has a low water content and which has already been used for cleansing ; and d) at the end of the cleansing process, the workpieces are rinsed with a treated alcohol.
