Abstract

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel which improves a discharge efficiency and a conversion efficiency from ultraviolet light to visible light, and can ensure discharge stability. <P>SOLUTION: The plasma display panel comprises: a first substrate and a second substrate which face each other; a plurality of address electrodes which is formed almost parallel to each other on the second substrate; a partition which is placed between the first substrate and the second substrate and partitions a plurality of discharge cells and a plurality of non-discharge cells; a phosphor layer which is formed in each discharge cell; and a plurality of discharge sustaining electrodes which is formed almost parallel to each other in a direction crossing the address electrodes on the first substrate. The discharge sustaining electrode is composed of a pair of a scanning electrode and a common electrode which are placed corresponding to a group of discharge cells arranged in a direction of the discharge sustaining electrodes.
