Abstract

The door opening mechanism, consisting of two handles (10, 12) at opposite ends of a spindle (14) that passes through the door, has one of the handles connected to the spindle by a lock mechanism (20) that allows it to be engaged or disengaged. The mechanism includes two locking plates (16, 18) and a coupling (36) for connecting one of them to the spindle, a drive (22), e.g. in the form of a battery-powered electric motor, a gear (24) and intermediate pinions (26), one of which is fitted with a cam (28) that operates a control spring (30) linked to a fork (32) that controls the coupling.
