Abstract

The roller operates in both offset and printing cylinder modes and is driven in the offset mode by a rubber blanket (3) as opposed to the second mode in which the roll acting as cylinder is fitted with an engraved printing plate as photopolymer plate or flexo-gravure plate. The plate is secured by clamp and fixer device (10,11) to position the plate in relation to the cylinder plate mounting surface. The cylinder is positioned in three phases relative to the substrate being printed. A register device and a page setter line-up device (12) adjusts the axial position for correct inking by means of the inker (6) working with the blanket. A doctor blade chamber is addressed to the ink transfer unit which in the second mode is in insert form and here exchangeable for a blanket washer.
