Abstract
A hardening process for hardening a ring-shaped workpiece, e.g. a sliding sleeve with a cooling agent, where the workpiece is put on a solid mandrel, subjected to the action of the cooling agent, the workpiece is removed from the mandrel, impacted with a cold gas in a cooling chamber, and the mandrel is removed. An independent claim is included for a hardening device having a device for feeding the hot workpiece and slipping it over a fixed mandrel (30,130), and cooling device-mandrel (40,45), outside the cooling chamber (20), where the mandrel is prepared in the cooling chamber (20) filled with cold gas ready for slipping the workpiece over it.
