Abstract

Apparatus for moving the bale arms (9) of a container (1) from one operating position to another includes means (57) for locating the container in a predetermined position relative to the apparatus. Two bale arm engaging means (43) each engage a respective one of the bale arms. Means (49, 51) are provided for moving each bale arm engaging means along a path of travel which closely corresponds to that of the respective bale arm while the bale arm engaging means remains in engagement with the bale arm, thereby ensuring complete movement of the bale arm between the operating positions.
