Abstract

A packaging bag for pourable products is made of a stable packing material, in particular of a paper-containing blank. In the filled state, the upper bag end (1) is folded at least once about a folding edge (4) and is secured at the bag region located below the folding edge (4), so forming a multi-layered edge region (5). By virtue of this arrangement, the packaging bag can be opened in a simple and easily manageable fashion without additional aids and without damaging any areas of the bag which are in contact with the product in the opening position. For this purpose, the upper bag end (1) is provided in the multi-layered edge region (5) with a tear-off device (6) for the free end region (8) of the multi-layered edge region (5).
