Abstract

The invention concerns a plastically deformable covering with at least one section (1) capable of extending in a given direction, the covering being intended particularly for use on buildings. The covering consists at least partly of a ductile, low-thickness material. The extensible section (1) has folds (5) running at right angles to the direction of extension (4), the strips (6, 7) on each side of the folds being essentially parallel to each other and to the surface of the covering. The strip (6) on one side of each fold is narrower than the strip (7) on the other side. In order to design a covering which will ensure a watertight seal over the space between a smooth surface and a larger surface, which has at least one section capable of extending in a given direction to at least twice its length and through which liquid cannot seep by capillary action into the space below covering, the invention proposes that the wider strip (7) is about twice as wide as the narrower strip (6), that the folds (5) lie immediately adjacent to each other and that they are joined to each other to form a watertight seal along one of the edges of the cover running in the direction of extension (4).
