A handle 1 for operating windows, doors or the like, with a fastening plate, especially a bearing rose 2, is proposed, the fastening plate or bearing rose 2 having a basic body 3 and a cover cap 4, the basic body 3 on the one hand possessing a central bush 14, in which a grip 5 is rotatably mounted and attached so as to be axially fixed, the basic body 3 on the other hand allowing, via screws or the like passing through by way of the latter, a fastening, mainly to the wing 6 of the door or of the window or the like, and the cover cap 4 being arranged rotatably about the spindle of the grip neck 12 and serving for covering the fastening screws or the like, for which purpose it is supported resiliently on a shoulder 13 of the grip neck 12. It is essential, at the same time, that the cover cap 4 consists of a material of hard springiness, for example plastic or metal, and carries a bush 14, the axial height of which exceeds the material thickness of the cover cap 4 at the top and bottom, that the bush 14 forms, together with the grip neck 12 or structural parts surrounding the latter, a bearing shell, about which the cover cap 4 is mounted so as to be axially non-displaceable, but rotatable, between the shoulder or abutment face 13 of the grip neck 12 and the end face of the basic body 3, and that the cover cap 4 is capable of continuously being pressed axially against the basic body 3, by the shoulder or abutment face provided on the grip neck 12 for this purpose, under a prestress which can be generated by a predetermined, especially preformed inherent curvature or inherent arching. <IMAGE>
