 EMI1.1

 EMI1.1

The invention relates to a device for overcoming the dead center in sewing machines and similarly driven machines, whereby such machines do not stop at the dead center and starting the machine does not require any manual assistance by doing this at any time by means of a foot drive, so that one does not use one hand during work must take away from the workpiece.

According to the invention, the device consists in that two opposite points of the foot step are connected to a two-armed lever mounted on the drive rod by means of rods equipped with springs, so that when the rods are moved up and down the springs are tensioned or loosened according to the direction of movement whereby the drive shaft is always helped over the dead center.

The invention is shown in the drawing, for example, in its application on a sewing machine in a perspective view.

The footstep b mounted in the machine frame a is coupled in the usual way to the shaft I carrying the wheel j by means of the drive rod e. At the upper end of the rod c a two-armed lever d is attached, the free ends of which at two opposite points

attached lever f, while the other lever arm of the rod 9 is coupled to the projection o During operation, when the rod g moves forward, the arm of the lever f connected to this rod will also reach its upper position and at the same time the other lever arm into the reach the lower position so that the spring h is compressed and that between the lever d and the rod a? switched on spring i is tensioned,

whereby the wave! is automatically helped over the top dead center. When the step is depressed in the opposite direction, the spring i is loosened and the Bjder A is tensioned, whereby the shaft overcomes the bottom dead center.
