Bei Verbrennungskraftmaschinen erleidet der den Verbrennungstaum einschliessende Teil des Zylinders bisweilen sehr hohe Beanspruchungen, denen er besonders dann nicht standzuhalten vermag, wenn die erforderlichen Ventile in der Zylinderwandung angeordnet sind, die Wandung also an diesen Stellen unterbrochen ist. Es lag nun nahe, die Zylinderwandung an der Stelle des Verbrennungsraumes besonders zu verstärken ; diese Massnahme führt jedoch nicht zum Ziele,

auf, die sich bald vergrössern und den Zylinder erst recht gefährden.
Die Erfindung bezweckt nun, diesen Übelstand zu beseitigen.
Auf der Zeichnung ist der Gegenstand der Erfindung in einem Ausführungsbeispiele veranschaulicht, und zwar zeigt die Figur den oberen Teil des Arbeitszylinders einer stehend angeordneten Verbrennungskraftmaschine im senkrechten Längsschnitte.
Der Arbeitszylinder besteht aus dem oben geschlossenen Zylindermantel A, einem inneren kappenförmigen Zylinderdeckel B, dessen zylindrischer Wandungsteil bis über den Verbrennungsraum herabgezogen ist, und der Laufbüchse C für den (nicht dargestellten) Arbeitskolben. Der Zylindermantel A und die Laufbüchse C bestehen aus Gusseisen, während der kappen artige Deckel B zweckmässig aus besonders widerstandsfähigem Materiale (Schmiedeeisen, Stahl oder dgl. ) hergestellt wird. Der Deckel B besitzt zwei ringförmige Flanschen 1J2, lr und ist in radialer Richtung mit Spiel in den Mantel A eingesetzt.
