 EMI2.1
Carbon in the shaft to carbon oxide. The warm air supplied through the channels fund i burns this carbon oxide and gains its heating power for the burning process.

By adjusting the slide, the amount of air passing through the ducts can be regulated within narrow limits, so that the most advantageous air amount for the burning process can be selected depending on the raw material and fuel and the outside temperature.

The air shaft cl can also be connected to the outer wall by masonry instead of free-standing, e.g. B. as shown in Fig. 2 by dotted lines, furthermore, instead of one channel e, several of the same can be arranged.

In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the air shaft e is arranged near the outer wall of the furnace. so that the air supply can easily be regulated from the outside. The cross section of the interior of the furnace intended to receive the material to be fired forms part of a circular ring. The firing layer has the same thickness everywhere, which is chosen so that sufficient air can penetrate into the middle of the layer. The arrangement of the air shaft c is similar to that of the first described embodiment of the () window.

The air duct c of the outer wall is guided around the air duct f in the drawn-in wall. The walls of the furnace can also approach each other towards the top, so that the material to be fired is prevented from sticking to the walls.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Shaft furnace for burning cement u. The like. With an annular shaft cross-section, characterized in that both the outer wall and the inner wall parallel to this have air supply ducts which extend from a common air shaft provided with regulating devices, the air being introduced into the combustion chamber only at two points, namely in the sintering zone and the calcining zone.
