   Die Erfindung betrifft eine Kokille zum Giessen von grossformatigen dünnen Platten aus Aluminium od. dgl., welche als flache, oben offene Wanne ausgebildet ist. 



   Bekanntlich müssen grossformatige Gussplatten eine gewisse Mindestwandstärke haben, die durch das Formfüllungsvermögen und die Erstarrungsgeschwindigkeit des flüssigen Metalls gegeben ist. Dies bringt bei grossformatigen Platten, die im offenen Sandguss hergestellt werden, Wandstärken mit sich, die festigkeitsmässig nicht erforderlich sind und das Werkstück unnötig schwer machen und damit verteuern, so dass eine Konkurrenz mit Walzerzeugnissen bei Fassadenplatten, Türplatten u. dgl. nicht möglich ist. Es ist zwar bekannt, in Giessformen für Blöcke, Turbinenschaufeln usw. Heizungen und/oder Kühlungen einzubauen, diese wirken aber nur auf bestimmte kritische Stellen, um das Erstarrungsgefüge zu beeinflussen. Eine Anwendung auf Platten haben diese Heizungen aber nicht gefunden.

   Man hat vielmehr versucht, diese dünnen Platten in Formen aus wärmedämmendem Material, wie Schamotte, Kohle u. dgl., zu giessen, um den   Wärmeabfluss   zu hemmen, was jedoch bei sehr dünnen Platten nicht ausreichte. 



   Erfindungsgemäss werden diese Nachteile bei einer Kokille der eingangs genannten Art dadurch vermieden, dass die Wanne aus Gusseisen hergestellt und an ihrer Unterseite mit einer Heizeinrichtung, beispielsweise mit einem Gasflächenbrenner oder mit einer elektrischen Widerstandsheizung versehen ist. 



  Nach einem weiteren Kennzeichen der Erfindung ist die Wanne an ihrer Unterseite mit Rippen versehen.
