Device for guiding sheet metal strips
The invention relates to a device for guiding sheet metal strips, in which each of the two sheet metal strip edges lies in the link gaps of a chain running parallel to the strip, and the chains are guided on or in support pieces, according to Patent No. 185 772, bearing rollers being arranged on the hinge pins connecting the chain links .

It is basically known to arrange bearing rollers for guiding a chain on the hinge pins connecting the chain links. In the known arrangement, the bearing rollers are located between the chain links.

In contrast, the subject matter of the invention is characterized in that the hinge pins for the link connection, on pins protruding on both sides, have ball bearings for guiding the chain on both sides on the path between the sprockets. In this case, two ball bearings can be seated on both sides of the projecting pivot pin, one ball bearing being assigned an outer guide and the other ball bearing an inner guide. A particularly good, in particular almost frictionless, guidance is achieved as a result.

The subject of the invention is explained in more detail in the drawings using an exemplary embodiment. They show: FIG. 1 a view of a piece of chain, with chain wheel and chain guide drawn in dash-dotted lines, FIGS. 2 and 3 two sections along lines 11 -11 and III-III in FIG
 EMI1.1
the Fig. l through the chain guide at a joint point of the link plates.

The chain links consist of link plates 1 and 2 in the form of alternating outer and inner plates, which are articulated by means of bolts 3 and run over chain wheels 4 on both sides, as indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG. Between these sprockets, support pieces 5 are provided for chain guidance in accordance with parent patent no. 185 772.

The jaw pieces 6 with their base part are inserted between the alternating outer and inner plates 1 and 2 and are fastened in an exchangeable manner by means of grooved pins 7. Hiebei alternate mouth pieces 6 with wider and narrower base parts, as can be seen from FIGS. 2 and 3. The jaws have slots 8 which open in curved surfaces and which have such a slot width at their base that no jamming occurs even with a corrugated sheet metal edge.

According to the invention, the hinge pins 3 each carry two ball bearings 10 on protruding pins 9 for guidance in the support pieces 5. This can be seen from FIG. The side walls of the channels of the support pieces 5, into which the pins 9 with the ball bearings 10 protrude, are designed to be offset in height, with the two inner ball bearings 10 rolling along the left side wall and the two outer ball bearings rolling along the right side wall. This is how

 a particularly uniform guidance achieved.

The edge of the guided sheet 11 is indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIGS.
