Process for the production of artificial structures from viscose.
It is known to add alkali silicates to the viscose ready for spinning in order to prevent the threads from sticking together. A certain rigidity of the spun viscose structures was also achieved by adding aqueous solutions of alkali silicates to the solution for the xanthate (Austrian
Patent No. 101957). Finally, it has been suggested that rayon threads look and feel

Aluminates. Resinates and other substances that reduce the slippiness of the finished thread can also be incorporated into the structures in order to bring out the feeling of roughness typical of wool.
The aim of the present invention is to obtain matt rayon threads of natural silk-like sheen which, in contrast to threads of a wool-like character, have a smooth surface. According to the invention, this objective is achieved by incorporating insoluble or only partially soluble inorganic substances into the viscose in systematically controlled amounts.
Accordingly, the method according to the invention consists in adding insoluble or only partially soluble substances to the viscose in such amounts that the spun structures have a matt natural silk-like sheen. By regulating the additional quantities, the noble matt gloss can be produced to a greater or lesser extent, depending on the requirements.
The following example is given as an explanation:
300 barium hydroxide is added to a viscose with a cellulose content of 8-0 to 8-2%. The viscose produced in this way can be spun in the usual way.
The same effect can be caused by various other insoluble or only partially in viscose
