Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Procedure for starting large short-circuit armature motors.
The simplest way to start asynchronous machines is that they are connected directly to the network. Such a starting, however, results in a comparatively large shock load in the network, so that this could only be used with comparatively small machine outputs.
For this reason, it has hitherto been necessary to design the machines as Sehleifringmasehinen instead of the simple design as squirrel-cage armature motors and to start them via resistors.
According to the invention, it is also possible to start very large machines as short-circuit armature machines by connecting a machine to the network in parallel with the machine during start-up, which machine covers the large reactive power consumption of the start-up process. For this
EMI1.1
is) set (excited) before the squirrel-cage motor is started in such a way that it can take over the reactive component of the starting current surge.
The use of the new starting process is particularly advantageous for synchronous machines with damper windings, which are started asynchronously as short-circuit armature machines.
In the case of systems with several units, it is only necessary to over-excite the machine that was switched on first before switching on the second machine, so that it supplies the reactive current required for the short-circuit start of the second or following machine.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A method for asynchronous starting of machines with short-circuit winding, characterized in that during the starting process, a reactive power machine is connected to the network parallel to the machine to be adapted, which is excited in such a way that it supplies the reactive component of the starting current surge.
