  Verfahren zur Darstellung von   S-CMorpyndin.   



   Durch   Pechmann   und Baltzer [B. 24 (1891) 3150] wurde ein Verfahren zur Darstellung von 2-Chlorpyridin bekannt, darin bestehend, dass man 2-Pyridon mittels Phosphoroxyehlorid und Phosphor-   pentachlorid   chloriert. 



   Es wurde nun die   überraschende   Beobachtung gemacht, dass es auch möglich ist, N-Alkylpyridone durch Behandlung mit dem erheblich billigeren Phosgen in glatt verlaufender Reaktion in 2-Chlorpyridin überzuführen, u. zw. bei ungefähr den gleichen Temperaturen, wie sie bei Verwendung von Phosphorpentachlorid als Chlorierungsmittel erforderlich sind. 



   In der deutschen Patentschrift Nr. 109933 ist die Behandlung von Pyridinbasen mit Phosgen beschrieben ; die nach diesem Verfahren dargestellten Verbindungen enthalten jedoch das Chlor nicht an Kohlenstoff, sondern an Stickstoff gebunden, wie z. B. folgende Formel zeigt :

 Die nach vorliegendem Verfahren   erhältliche   Verbindung besitzt folgende Konstitution :

Beispiel : 40   g N-Methyl-2-pyridon   werden in einem Gefäss mit   Rüekflusskühler   bei einer Temperatur von etwa   1200 durch   langsames Einleiten von Phosgen chloriert. Die Masse bleibt hiebei flüssig, nur einige Kriställehen sublimieren gelegentlich in den Kühler. Nachdem das Endprodukt ein Gewicht von etwa 43-45    < y erreicht hat, wird   dasselbe aufgearbeitet, z.

   B. derart, dass es, mit wenig Natronlauge versetzt, der Wasserdampfdestillation unterworfen wird. Man erhält etwa 39 g 2-Chlorpyridin, was einer Ausbeute von etwa 93-94% entspricht.

   By Pechmann and Baltzer [B. 24 (1891) 3150] a process for the preparation of 2-chloropyridine was known, consisting in that 2-pyridone is chlorinated by means of phosphorus oxychloride and phosphorus pentachloride.



   The surprising observation has now been made that it is also possible to convert N-alkylpyridones into 2-chloropyridine in a smooth reaction by treatment with the considerably cheaper phosgene, u. at about the same temperatures as are required when using phosphorus pentachloride as the chlorinating agent.



   The treatment of pyridine bases with phosgene is described in German patent specification No. 109933; However, the compounds prepared by this process contain the chlorine not bound to carbon but to nitrogen, such as. B. shows the following formula:

Example: 40 g of N-methyl-2-pyridone are chlorinated in a vessel with a reflux condenser at a temperature of about 1200 by slowly introducing phosgene. The mass remains liquid, only a few crystals sublime into the cooler. After the end product has reached a weight of about 43-45 <y, the same is worked up, e.g.
