  Kugellager.

  Ball-bearing.

The invention relates to a ball bearing which enables a small lateral play of the shaft, as is desirable in the operation of electric motors or in shafts that experience axial changes in length as a result of temperature fluctuations.

The ball bearing shown in the two figures of the drawing consists essentially of an inner ball bearing of the usual type seated on the shaft and an outer part also mounted on balls, which however only allows axial movement and in which the inner ball bearing is spherically mounted. This outer bearing consists of an outer steel ring 1 adjustable in the axial direction in the bearing housing by means of two crown screw rings 4 and 5 and a somewhat shorter inner steel ring 2 in which the inner ball bearing is mounted spherically.

Between the two rings 1 and 2, which have a number of axially running ball track grooves on the inner and outer circumference, are guided by a cylindrical ball cage, steel balls that allow a slight axial movement of the ring 2 and thus also of the shaft relative to the outer ring 1. The size of this game is given by the axial difference in length between rings 1 and 2 and limited by projections on the crown screw rings.

In order to secure the latter in its position after setting the bearing by adjusting and tightening the two crown screw rings, a bracket 6 engaging in the recesses of the same is provided, which is attached to the housing by a small stud screw.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Ball bearing, characterized in that its outer race has the little play
