Se refiere a proteínas antiportadoras de protones / azúcar tonoplastidarias, especialmente proteínas antiportadoras de protones / sacarosa tonoplastidarias, a las secuencias de nucleótidos que las codifican y a sus usos para la producción de plantas transgénicas con una mayor concentración de sacarosa. Comprende también un procedimiento para la producción de plantas transgénicas con una mayor concentración de sacarosa, un procedimiento para aumentar la concentración de sacarosa en plantas, así como para la identificación de plantas que son adecuadas para producir una mayor concentración de sacarosa.
