Abstract

En un sistema de segado se determinó que una significativa reducción en la longitud promedio de rastrojo, que se calcula en base a la distancia en que el cultivo es empujado hacia adelante sin que haya corte, puede obtenerse mediante una combinación de una o más de las características en las cuales la carrera de corte se reduce desde la longitud convencional de 3,0 pulgadas hasta un valor del orden de 2,0 pulgadas; la longitud del borde cortante de cada hoja de cuchilla se aumenta a una longitud mayor a 2,2 pulgadas; el ancho en la parte anterior de la superficie saliente de cada guarda se incrementa a más de 1,0 pulgada; y el borde frontal de la hoja se conforma con un vértice para dejar caer material de cultivo hacia uno u otro lado del vértice.
