Abstract

Se proveen algas y cianobacterias resistentes a herbicidas. Asimismo, también provee células de algas y cianobacterias transgénicas que son aptas para alta produccion en intensidades de luz alta como se aplican típicamente en el cultivo. Asimismo, se provee un método de transformacion novedoso para las células de algas. Reivindicacion 1: Un método para mantener un monocultivo de cianobacterias o algas libre de especies no deseadas que comprende los pasos de: a) transformar una cianobacteria o un alga para expresar resistencia contra uno o más herbicidas; b) cultivar dicha cianobacteria o alga que expresa resistencia contra uno o más herbicidas; c) proveer opcionalmente alta concentracion de CO2 en el medio de cultivo; y d) agregar uno o más herbicidas en el medio de cultivo.
