Abstract

Planta de maíz y semillas con niveles incrementados de proteína y aminoácidos, construcciones de ADN que dan lugar a la expresion de una enzima asparagina sintetasa en células de maíz transgénico. Las construcciones de ADN se utilizan en un método para la produccion de plantas y semillas transgénicas de maíz y para la seleccion de plantas y semillas con niveles incrementados de proteína y aminoácidos. Reivindicacion 1: Una secuencia de ácido nucleico aislada seleccionada del grupo que consiste en: (a) una secuencia de ácido nucleico que comprende la secuencia de SEC. ID. NO: 50; (b) una secuencia de ácido nucleico con por lo menos aproximadamente 90 % de identidad con la secuencia de SEC. ID. NO: 50, donde la secuencia de ácido nucleico codifica un polipéptido que comprende actividad de asparagina sintetasa; (c) una secuencia de ácido nucleico que codifica la secuencia polipeptídica de SEC. ID. NO: 51; (d) una secuencia de ácido nucleico que codifica un polipéptido con por lo menos aproximadamente 90 % de identidad con la secuencia de SEC. ID. NO: 51, donde el polipéptido comprende actividad de asparagina sintetasa y (e) una secuencia de ácido nucleico que se hibrida a una secuencia de (a)-(d) en condiciones de alta rigurosidad de aproximadamente 0,2 x SSC y 65° C, donde la secuencia de ácido nucleico codifica un polipéptido que comprende actividad de asparagina sintetasa.
