Abstract

The reclosable seal comprises a pair of opposite lace closure strips and a slide to open and close the closure strips. The fastener (20) comprises a support surface and a pair of elongate fasteners (23; 24) each with a proximal portion (33) adjacent to the support surface and a distal portion (34) wherein the clamping members define the channel (30) between them. The channel (30) has a first section (25) to receive and enclose a portion of the slide and a second section to receive only the closing strips but not the slide. The channel also has a groove (30) formed by the distal portions (34) of the clamping members (23; 24) where the groove (30) is wide enough to allow the side panels of the thermoplastic bag to be introduced in the groove, but prevents the closing strips from passing through the groove (30).
