Abstract

Una caja de almacenaje para una camioneta "pickup" o vehículo similar se forma a partir de una combinación de materiales compuestos y metálicos. Le caja de almacenaje incluye una estructura de caja de almacenaje interno que se encuentra formado por una pluralidad de componentes tubulares metálicos que se encuentran asegurados uno a otro, tal como mediante técnicas de soldadura por impulso magnético. La caja de almacenaje incluye además uno o más paneles que se encuentran formados de materiales compuestos, tales como uretano, que se encuentran asegurados a la estructura de caja de almacenaje metálica. Los paneles compuestos se pueden asegurar a la caja de estructura de almacenaje metálica moldeando el material compuesto directamente sobre la estructura de caja de almacenaje metálica. Alternativamente, los paneles compuestos se pueden formar como piezas separadas que se encuentran conectadas a la estructura de caja de almacenaje metálica. La combinación de la estructura de caja de almacenaje metálica interna y los paneles de caja de almacenaje compuestos externos provee una caja de almacenaje relativamente liviana resistente a abolladuras y otras deformaciones durante el uso.
