Abstract
Un procedimiento de producción y de multiplicación de plántulas de maíz homocigotas para un transgen que confiere esterilidad masculina, útiles para la producción de semillas híbridas de maíz. Reivindicación 1: Procedimiento de producción de semillas de maíz homocigotas para un transgen que confiere esterilidad masculina nuclear artificial ("AMS") y heterocigotas para un gen de restauración de la fertilidad ligado a un marcador de fenotipo "grano pequeno", caracterizado porque comprende las etapas que consisten en: a) cruzar una plántula de maíz masculina estéril heterocigota para el transgen AMS con una plántula de maíz restauradora de la fertilidad que comprende en su genoma un gen de restauración de la fertilidad ligado a un marcador de fenotipo "grano pequeno", b) seleccionar por el fenotipo "grano pequeno" las semillas de maíz que comprenden en su genoma un gen de restauración de la fertilidad ligado a un marcador de fenotipo "grano pequeno", c) autofecundar las plántulas de maíz resultantes de las semillas seleccionadas de acuerdo con la etapa (b), d) seleccionar las semillas homocigotas para el transgen AMS y heterocigotas para el gen de restauración de la fertilidad ligado a un marcador de fenotipo "grano pequeno". Reivindicación 2: Procedimiento de producción de semillas de maíz homocigotas para un transgen que confiere esterilidad masculina nuclear artificial ("AMS") y heterocigotas para un gen de restauración de la fertilidad ligado a un marcador de fenotipo "grano pequeno", caracterizado porque comprende las etapas que consisten en: a) cruzar una plántula de maíz masculina estéril heterocigota para el transgen AMS con una plántula de maíz restaurador de la fertilidad que comprende en su genoma un gen de restauración de la fertilidad ligado a un marcador de fenotipo "grano pequeno", b) realizar un genotipado de las semillas obtenidas por el cruzamiento de acuerdo con la etapa (a), c) autofecundar las plántulas de maíz resultantes de las semillas genotipeadas de acuerdo con la etapa (b), d) seleccionar las semillas homocigotas para el transgen AMS y heterocigotas para el gen de restauración de la fertilidad ligado a un marcador de fenotipo "grano pequeno". Reivindicación 3: Semilla de maíz homocigota para un transgen AMS y heterocigota para un gen de restauración de la fertilidad ligado a un marcador de fenotipo "grano pequeno", caracterizado porque es susceptible de obtenerse por el procedimiento de acuerdo con la reivindicación 1 o 2. Reivindicación 20: Vector, en especial plásmido, caracterizado porque contiene al menos una casete de expresión tal como se ha descripto en una de las reivindicaciones 11 a 19. Reivindicación 21: Huésped celular, caracterizado porque es en especial bacteria tal como Agrobacterium tumefaciens, transformado por un vector de acuerdo con la reivindicación 20. Reivindicación 22: Célula de maíz caracterizada porque es transformada por al menos un vector de acuerdo con la reivindicación 20. Reivindicación 23: Plántula de maíz restaurador de la fertilidad caracterizada porque comprende en su genoma un gen restaurador de la fertilidad ligado a un marcador de fenotipo "grano pequeno". Reivindicación 24: Plántula de maíz homocigota para un transgen AMS y heterocigota para un gen de restauración de la fertilidad ligado a un marcador de fenotipo "grano pequeno", caracterizada porque se obtiene a partir de una semilla de acuerdo con la reivindicación 3.
