Abstract

Un paquete descartable de medicamento para generar un aerosol desplazando una formulacion fluida a través de un filtro de baja resistencia y luegoa través de un pico que consiste en una membrana porosa. El paquete comprende una porcion de paredplega ble que forma un recipiente para contener unaformulacion líquida, cuyo recipiente tiene una abertura cubierta por una porcion de recubrimiento que comprende un pico. Los poros de la membrana del picotienen un tamano del rango de 0,25 a 6micrones, pr eferentemente de 0,5 a 6 micrones. Un filtro de baja resistencia que se encuentra dispuesto entre laformulacion fluida y el pico incluye aberturas que tienen el mismo tamano o son menores que los poros de la membrana porosa del pico,pero incluye las aberturas en una cantidad y densidad tal que la formulacion fluida fluye a través del filtro con menor resistencia que cuando la formulacion sedesplaza a través de la membrana porosa. Por lo tanto, el filtro no aumentasignificativamente la presion n ecesaria para convertir la formulacion en aerosol,impide que se tapen los poros de la membrana del pico con partículas indeseables que pueden estar presentes en la formulacion, impide la administracion detalespartículas indeseables al paciente, mejo rando así la homogeneidad de la formulacion en aerosol administrada al paciente, así como la uniformidad yreproducibilidad de la dosis en aerosol creada.
