Abstract

Preferably, the egg is passed between the light source and the light detector without direct contact with it. And the method preferably further comprises the step of electronically laser filtering detected by the light detector to distinguish the light emitted from the light source from the ambient light. Steps (b) to (d) can be repeated at a speed of at least one egg per second. The device is also provided to carry out the above method. A method for selectively injecting the eggs identified as appropriate for injection, and an apparatus for carrying out such a method is described.
