The research project CANTUS NETWORK, which is funded by the National Foundation for Research, Technology and Development and is based at the Austrian Academy of Sciences, aims to investigate the records of Christian medieval worship that have survived in manuscript form and describe the practice of liturgical and musical acts of worship. The key sources for this transmission are the liturgical “prompt books”, called liber ordinarius, which include a short form of more or less the entire rite of a diocese or a monastery. Here, prayers, readings and chants are given as in abbreviated form as text incipits.

The target audience includes researchers as well as local historians or interested non-experts. The descriptions of the architecture and furnishings of the churches, the abbot's house, the convent, the guest house as well as the brewery house offer a comprehensive impression of the appearance of the building complex. These "art guides" are enriched with around 600 high-quality colour illustrations and thus also allow a look at areas of the monastery complex that are not (always) accessible.
The website is divided into the main sections "History", "Research", "Kloster Aldersbach Digital", "Digitalisate" and "Bibliography". Under the last menu item, a selection of 162 literature citations on the history of the monastery is available. Under "Digitalisate", two image viewers are offered that can reproduce facsimiles of about 300 Aldersbach manuscripts and several prints published by Aldersbach monks that are now kept in the Bavarian State Library in Munich.
