Özet Grafik tasarım disiplini kendi içerisinde çeşitli konu alanlarına ayrılmaktadır. Bu alanlarda ortaya konulan ürün yoğun düşünce sürecinin ardından oluşmaya başlar. Bu aynı zamanda soyut dünyaya ait kavramların gerçek dünyada sembollere dönüşerek biçim bulduğu bir süreçtir. Tasarı zihinde başlar, eleştirel düşünme, sorgulama, analiz etme, akıl yürütme, özgün çözümler geliştirme gibi yaratıcı bir süreçten geçerek tasarıma dönüşür. Bütün bu yoğun, karmaşık ve üst düzey zihinsel becerilerin kullanımını gerektiren süreç gereği Grafik Tasarımı eğitiminin iki temel ifade alanı üzerine inşa edildiği söylenebilir. Bunlar görsel ve dilsel ifade alanlarıdır. Bunun yanında dil ve düşünce arasındaki yakın ilişki dikkate alındığında, dilin grafik tasarımı eğitiminde gerek ifade gerekse düşünce aracı olarak hayati öneme sahip olduğu söylenebilir. Bu aracı etkili biçimde kullanamayan bir grafik tasarımcının dilin/düşüncenin yansıma biçimlerinden biri olan görselleri de etkin olarak düzenleyip tasarıma dolayısıyla mesaja dönüştürmesi kolay olmayacaktır. Yirmibirinci yüzyılın gelişen bilişim ve iletişim teknolojileri birçok alanın tanımını genişletmekte ve yeniden şekillendirmektedir. Sanat ve tasarım alanlarındaki sınırların ortadan kalkmaya başladığı günümüzde iletişim teknolojileri geliştikçe grafik tasarım da değişmekte, disiplinlerarası etkileşim ile yeni teknolojilerin etkin olduğu bir iletişim disiplini olarak kendini yenilemektedir (Ertürk, 2014). Ulaşılan bilgi düzeyi ya da iletişim için kullanılan araç ne olursa olsun, iletişimin ana öğesinin dil oluşu hiç değişmemiştir. İnsanın dil ile anlatamayacağı hiçbir kavram yok gibidir. Buna göre, kişinin iletişim yeteneğini, büyük ölçüde, onun dili kullanabilme becerisinin belirlediği söylenebilir (Yangın,2001). Bu çalışma, Grafik Tasarım öğrencilerinin üretim sürecini yapılandıran düşünce sistemleri ile dil arasındaki yakın ilişkiyi sorgulamayı amaçlamaktadır. Dili etkili kullanma becerisini geliştirmeye yönelik eğitimin, bir iletişim disiplini olan grafik tasarımında taşıdığı önemin yüksek öğretimde programlara yansıma durumu bu araştırmanın problemini oluşturmaktadır. Bu kapsamda Türkiye'de 15 yılını doldurmuş olan grafik tasarımı programlarının ders içerikleri ve program çıktıları dil becerilerini geliştirmeye yönelik eğitime verdikleri ağırlık açısından değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma kapsamında döküman incelemesi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Nitel bir araştırma yöntemi olan döküman incelemesi ile grafik tasarımı ve dil arasındaki ilişki derinlemesine irdelenmiş, dil olgusunun bir düşünce üretimi aracı olarak grafik tasarımı eğitimindeki yeri ve kapsamına yönelik bulgulara varılmaya çalışılmıştır. Özet
Grafik tasarım eğitimi sürecinin temel yapı taşlarından birini tipografi öğretimi
oluşturmaktadır. Öğrenci, tipografi dersi ile harfleri ve yazı sistemlerini tarihi gelişim süreci içerisinde tanır. Yazının bir tasarım öğesi olarak kullanımıyla birlikte tipografinin gelişim evrelerini farklı dönemlere ve üsluplara göre öğrenir ve ayırt edebilir. Bu öğrenim sürecinde ayrıca öğrenci yüzlerce farklı yazı karakterini kuramsal olarak tanır ve
uygulamalarında kullanır. Herbiri farklı bir yazı tipi sınıflandırmasına dahil olan bu yazı karakterlerinin tasarımcı tarafından tercih edilmesi konunun içeriği ile yakından ilişkilidir. Her yazı karakterinin çağrışım yoluyla ifade ettiği bir duygu durumu, temsil ettiği bir iş kolu veya konu içeriği bulunabilir. Dolayısıyla görsel iletişimde tasarımın etkisini belirleyen en önemli unsurlardan biri içeriğe uygun yazı karakterinin tercih edilmesidir.
Bu araştırma, grafik tasarım eğitimi alan lisans öğrencilerinin farklı konu ve içeriklere göre yazı karakteri seçimindeki yönelimlerini belirlemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu kapsamda, öğrencilere dağıtılmak üzere bir veri toplama aracı geliştirilmiştir. Söz konusu veri toplama aracında belirli kavramları, olguları veya faaliyet türlerini içeren 20 adet soru bulunmaktadır. Sorularla birlikte verilen ek belgede ise 20 farklı yazı tipinin bulunduğu
bir liste yer almaktadır. Öğrencilerden, soruda geçen kavram, olgu veya faaliyet türünü görsel olarak en iyi ifade edeceğini düşündükleri yazı karakterini listeden seçerek numarasını boş kutucuklara işaretlemeleri istenmiştir. Öğrenci, bir yazı karakterini dilerse birden fazla soru ile eşleştirebilir. Öğrencilerin, ölçme aracı ile belirlenen yönelimleri, betimsel istatistiklerden yararlanılarak özetlenmiştir. Araştırma bulguları, grafik
tasarım eğitiminde önemli bir ağırlığa sahip tipografi konusunda öğrencilerin farkındalık düzeylerini bir yönüyle ortaya koymaktadır. Hemen her projede tipografik unsurları kullanan grafik tasarımı öğrencisi için içeriğe uygun yazı karakteri seçimi oldukça önemlidir. Metinler, görsellerle bir arada düzenlenebileceği gibi yalnızca tipografik düzenlemeler olarak da mesajdaki anlamı tek başına yüklenebilir. Dolayısıyla görsel
iletişim sürecinde mesajın doğru ve etkili şekilde karşı tarafa aktarılması, içeriğe uygun yazı karakteri seçimi ile yakından ilişkilidir. Yukarıda ifade edilenler dikkate alındığında, grafik tasarımı öğrencilerinden elde edilen ampirik veriler temelinde betimsel istatistiklere ulaşmanın, tipografi öğretiminin karar alma süreçlerinde rehberlik edici bilgiler sunacağı düşünülmektedir.

Typography teaching is one of the basic building blocks of graphic design education process. The student recognizes typography and letters and writing systems in the course of historical development. With the use of writing as a design element, typography can learn and distinguish the stages of development according to different periods and styles. In this learning process, the student also recognizes theoretically hundreds of different characters and uses them in their applications. The choice of these type characters, each of which belongs to a different type face classification, is closely related to the content of the subject. Each writing character can have a state of emotion expressed by association, a business line or subject content it represents. Therefore, one of the most important factors that determine the effect of design in visual communication is the choice of the appropriate type face. This research aims to determine the tendency of undergraduate students in graphic design education in choosing type face according to different subjects and contents. In this context, a data collection tool was developed to be distributed to the students. The data collection tool has 20 questions that contain specific concepts, phenomena, or types of activities. The supplementary document provided with the questions contains a list of 20 different type faces. The students were asked to mark the number in the empty boxes by selecting the type face from the list which they think would best express the concept, phenomenon or activity type in the question. The student can match a type face to more than one question if he wishes. The orientations of the students determined by the measurement tool are summarized by using descriptive statistics.The findings of the research reveal the students' level of awareness about typography which has an important weight in graphic design education. It is very important for the graphic design student to use typographic elements in almost every project. Texts can be edited together with visuals, or they can be loaded alone as typographic arrangements. Therefore, the correct and effective transmission of the message in the visual communication process is closely related to the choice of type face appropriate to the content. Considering the above, it is thought that reaching descriptive statistics on the basis of empirical data obtained
from graphic design students will provide guidance in decision-making process of typography teaching.

The aim of this study is to examine research trends in graphic design on the basis of postgraduate theses. In this context, research data; it has been analyzed and described in terms of years of publication, types, academic titles of consultants, departments and subjects. Criterion sampling method was adopted in the study. The criterion for selection as a sample is to be displayed when the keyword "graphic design" is entered in the subject tab in the detailed search section of the official website of the Higher Education Council (YÖK) National Thesis Center. Within this research 536 postgraduate theses that prepared in the field of graphic design between 2006-2018 by various departments of graduate education institutes in Turkey were examined. These theses were approved and archived by YÖK Documentation Department. The distribution of these postgraduate theses examined is as follows: 432 are master's, 39 are doctorate and 65 are proficiency in art thesis. In the research process, document analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods, was adopted, and categorical analysis, one of the content analysis methods, was used in the analysis of the data. The data obtained within the scope of the research were summarized in terms of percentages and frequencies. The results of the research showed that the postgraduate theses included in the sample group can be examined under 18 categories in terms of their subjects. These categories are; graphic design education, computer aided design, interdisciplinary studies, graphic language, ethics, opinion, poster, packaging design, information design, meaning-based analysis, visual identity / brand identity, graphic production techniques, book-magazine, theoretical studies, desktop publishing, multimedia, advertising graphic and typography. The research showed that the theses in the field of graphic design were prepared by 37 different departments that the theses did not show a consistent increase or decrease over the years. There were serious differences between the universities in terms of the number of theses published, and that nearly half of the theses belong to the first three universities. ÖZET Türk Milletinin Dünya tarihinde büyük bir yere ve öneme sahip olmasının temelinde bu milletin batıdan doğuya, güneyden kuzeye birçok milletin kültüründen beslenerek kendi kültürüne çeşitlilik katması yatmaktadır. Sözlü geleneklerin hakim olduğu Türklerde, yazılı kültüre geç geçilmesinden dolayı kültürel devamlılık sağlanamamasına rağmen mitolojik öğeler, efsaneler, destanlar, inanç ve ananelerle kültürel değerler nesilden nesile varlığını korumuştur. Kültürel devamlılığın önemli bir parçası olan mitolojiyle ilgili çalışmalar yunan mitolojisinin etkisiyle başlamıştır. Türk mitolojisi hakkındaki araştırmalar ise, Cumhuriyetten önce başlamış ve günümüze kadar artarak devam etmiştir. Turks who have a rich history have a rich culture and valuable mythical
elements. Turkish culture, which started to be born in China borders in Central Asia, is tried to be kept alive in today's Turkish states. Turkish culture, enriched by Chinese, Indian, Iranian, Arab, Hittite and Helen cultures throughout history, has managed to not break away from its original origins. Creation of written sources in later periods and be established in the late Turkey, Turkish culture has been problematic to transfer to the next generation. Turkish mythology can not be fully understood by examining the history of many states in line with today's academic conditions, but it has rich mythical elements. In this study, especially bird figures and graphic design elements which have been proven by various findings and sources, have been examined. Predatory
birds of bird figures have evoked admiration in the ancient Turks who had the belief in the God of Heaven, and regarded them as the envoy of God. Predatory birds, the most powerful animals of the sky, has become the sole symbol of power, domination and nobility in Turkish culture. However, only the double-headed eagle symbol has survived to this day.
The aim of this study is to emphasize that there are different bird figures
with different meanings except the double - headed eagle in the Turkish mythology. In Turkish mythology, there are many bird symbols such as owls, crows, swans, huttus, nightingales, pigeons, geese, storks, chickens, peacocks. The bird symbols discovered in this research were tried to be introduced to Turkish culture with sample logo designs, which is the sub-branch of graphic art.

Bauhaus, which started to show itself at the beginning of the 20th century, has an accepted design concept today. The designs formed within the basic philosophy of Bauhaus have a simple and functional structure. The Bauhaus school followed a policy that brought industry and art together. Today, models that are modeled in computer environment with 3D printers or transferred to computer environment with scanners can exist in the real world thanks to these printers. 3D printers respond to needs by providing opportunities in different disciplines. This study deals with three-dimensional character design in line with the Bauhaus Design Principles. The basic philosophy of Bauhaus to create functional designs by utilizing new technologies and the simple characters revealed with 3D printers support this policy. By creating the character design in accordance with the Bauhaus design principles, it is aimed to examine the process until the reproduction of the character in 3D printers.

Children's book designs are carefully designed for the development of the child's sensory, social, motor skills and artistic aesthetics. Since the senses are just starting to develop in the 0-2 age group, books that intended for their senses are designed and social message content children's books with more detailed illustrations are designed for children over the age of 2. Creative children's books are designed in order to revive the imagination of pre-school children whose imaginations are naturally developed. Children's books, which consist of text designed in a classical style and illustrations reflecting the text, restrict children's imagination and prevent them from thinking differently.
The purpose of this article is to classify the creative use possibilities of graphic design elements used in the design of children's books prepared for pre-school children (0-5 years old) and to support them with relevant examples. The learning of a color is reflected on an object or animal in an extraordinary way, enabling the child to think differently and perceive the world as unusual. It is possible to draw attention to the excitement of the subject by using typography in harmony with the illustration and by emphasizing the words where necessary. With the scenes where different angles are used together, attention is drawn to the different approach to events and the importance of the materials used for pre-school children.
A classification has been developed that allows creative applications in children's book designs. This classification was supported with examples by evaluating illustration, page planning, form, color, typography and material usage. It is stated in general how the use of graphic design elements and material preference used in book design contribute to the development of the pre-school user.

Creative message strategies such as fear, humor and sexuality are used in print advertisement designs to attractthe attention of the target audience to the advertisement. Anxiety, one of the attractiveness strategies usedin advertisements, ensures the retention of the advertisement and the purchase of that product by activatingemotions such as fear and worry. Advertisements containing anxiety can make the target audience buy the product with reverse psychology. Magazine advertisements are one of the printed media where reminder, informative and creative advertisementsare frequently used. In this article, which was prepared in accordance with the rules of research and publicationethics, 1780 advertisements in 60 issues of Istanbul Life magazine published between 2016-2020 were discussedin terms of graphic design elements such as title, text, image and colour under the title of “anxiety”. The aim isto determine what percentage of the advertisements in a magazine contain disturbing messages. The reason for preferring Istanbul Life magazine is the fact that it is one of the most read magazines in Istanbul, Turkey’s most populous city, its being easily accessible, has a wide target audience.and.product.variety.
