The WLAN is operated in some high traffic area where the radiation beam produced by the elliptical  patch antenna is to be utilized with optimum efficiency. The aim of the antenna array is to produce some directive and switched beams rather than producing omni-directional pattern which cover 360°, can be considered to be wastage in some non-used or low traffic areas. Hence, directive beam and switching it without actually changing the direction of the elliptical patch array is a smart way for WLAN application . A smart antenna array system performs the adaptive beam forming by focusing the beam in the desired direction and creating nulls in other directions to avoid the interference and the wasting of the beams. This is performed by the operating the phase shifting in its feed network and different ports. This paper investigates the performance of the elliptical patch array patterns operating in dual bands with different phase shifting for the optimum performance of the WLAN applications.

Design of a U-Breiiotl atca r cl p iall Uric l ettol sand (Ues) antenna on Jeans
substrate which can be easily worn is presented in this paper, and then imposed on human
body environment for Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) applications. Comparison of
the performance of the designed antenna is done at the on and off body environment in terms
of return loss, radiation pattern and voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR). The antenna
provides an operational frequency band from 6.6342 GHz to 16.58 GHz, but for analyzing the
performance 7-14 GHz frequency band is used. Electro textile material, Denim jeans (εr= 1.7)
is used as the antenna substrate. A human body model having three layers (skin, fat and
muscle) is then developed and the antenna is applied on this body model to investigate the
characteristics and performance and also the impact of human body layers on the antenna. The
whole observation on human body model is carried out at four different frequencies: 8 GHz,
10 GHz, 12 GHz and 14 GHz.

This paper presents a design of an elliptical patch
textile antenna having operating frequency at 2.45 GHz for RFID
application. The proposed antenna consists of elliptical patch on
Dacron fabric (r=3) as substrate followed by a partial ground at
the back of the substrate. The overall size of the proposed
antenna is 45×38 mm2. The proposed antenna has a gain of 3.386
dB with VSWR of 1.07. The performance of the proposed
antenna is analyzed under four angles of bending. The effect of
change in feed length is also focused. The characteristics, low
profile and compact size of the antenna depicts as a potential
candidate for RFID application. CST Microwave Studio package
is used for design and simulation purpose.
