My academic focus is on investigating how people decide on products and treatments and how organizations can improve their offerings to their diverse customers.

Advertising expenditures are determined which optimize multiobjective performance indices in a Nash equilibrium sense. The dynamics of the market are described by utilizing an extension of the Vidale-Wolfe model of the sales response to advertising. A numerical algorithm is used to solve the model.

The company's newest products, CBC/Web and ACA/Web, focus on providing the flexibility and power of conducting conjoint analysis on the Internet. CBC/Web is choice-based conjoint analysis and ACA/Web is adaptive conjoint analysis. The mother ship for these conjoint variations is SSI Web. SMRT serves the similar function for ...

Gene expression profile (gep) testing of tumours informs risk prediction, but evidence of its clinical utility is limited. We explored patient perceptions of gep testing and the impact of those perceptions on chemotherapy decisions. We conducted one focus group (n = 4) and individual interviews (n = 24) with patients who used gep testing, recruited through clinics at two hospitals in Ontario. Data were analyzed using content analysis and constant comparison techniques. Patients' understanding of gep testing was variable, and misapprehensions were common. Patients valued the test because it provided them with certainty amidst confusion, with options and a sense of empowerment, and with personalized, authoritative information. They commonly believed that the test was better and fundamentally different from other clinical tests, attributing ...

We apply the sentiment analysis technique to analyze the overall sentiment of each insurance type since 2012. Our findings show that since 2013 consumers had more negative attitudes toward insurance services. We also extracted consumers’ emotions for each insurance type and found that consumers generally have more negative emotions than positive ones toward insurance services. Moreover, the results show that consumer reviews sentiments could accurately predict consumer review ratings and there are significant differences in review ratings between positive, neutral, and negative consumer reviews sentiments for all insurance types. The results of this study highlight the importance of sentiment analysis in understanding consumers’ opinion toward different services that could help companies to reduce c...

Although SAS (a statistical analysis system) has been a highly effective approach, that platform has been used more by those who are very technically competent, those who want hands-on determination of all steps of design and analysis, or those who need special experimental designs. Recently, several of the Web survey services have offered conjoint features. Now there is a new entrant in the market, operating under the clever and provocative name of StatWizards. George Boomer is the founder and owner, and developed the approach and the software. StatWizards was not meant to be a copycat of Sawtooth Software or SAS; its orientation to discrete choice conjoint is both conventional and innovative at the same time. Many who have used Sawtooth Software and...

Design/methodology/approach A panel data set of customer reviews was collected for auto, life, and home insurance from January 2012 to December 2015 using a web scraping technique. Using a sentiment analysis approach, 1,584 reviews for the auto, home, and life insurance services of 156 insurance companies were analyzed. Findings The results indicate that, since 2013, consumers have generally had more negative emotions than positive ones toward insurance services. The results also show that consumer review sentiment correlates positively and review length correlates negatively with consumer online review ratings. Furthermore, a two-way ANOVA analysis shows that, in general, short reviews with positive sentim...

Tour ism advertising was first linked to changes in awareness of and attitudes toward the target destination based on adver tising tracking data. Second, the changes in awareness and attitudes were linked to changes in the number of visits, based on LISREL and econometric analysis of the tracking data. Finally, changes in the number of visits were converted into changes in tourist expenditures, based on data on actual visits and expenditures. The results suggest that the returns to the advertising campaign were significant. A number of important weaknesses in the implementation are identified, together with the data that would be required to strengthen the estimates.

An important feature of the problem is the presence of reaction terms driven by the difference in the advertising expenditures of the two duopolistic firms under consideration. Formula for the Nash Turnpike is derived using the maximum principle. Several competitive encounters with different parameters of the model are numerically solved. Tentative conclusions are drawn by analyzing these results.(Author)
