The road landscape creates the character and the spatial quality, which is vital to decide the driving safe. 'Southern Expressway', which was introduced recently, allowed people to move quickly from Western to Southern destinations of Sri Lanka and time to time accidents were also recorded. So, the spatial qualities of the existing road landscape might have impacted on the accidents happened on Southern Highway from its initiation. Identification of accident prone areas (Black-Spots) is a vital factor of road safety management process. The study focused on to develop a methodology to analyze road landscape with using a visual analysis in an identified Black-Spots in Southern Highway. Data is collected and analyzed as two phases; one is from recorded accidents data and other from live recording of the expressway driving stretch. In this study highlighted that the possibilities of analyze identified 'Black-spots' by using Photographic analysis method. In conclusion, the study emphasizes that the identified methodology to analyze road landscape can be developed up to more advanced level to identify driving behaviour related Black-Spots and to take mitigatory actions.

Central to this consideration is the concept of walkability, which underscores the critical importance of optimizing sidewalks and pedestrian facilities to enhance pedestrian-centric and high-quality transport landscapes. The primary objective of this research is to develop a detailed walkability evaluation framework by examining the Green SL ® Rating System for Sustainable Cities by the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka-a tool designed to recognize and foster sustainable urban development practices within Sri Lanka. Grasping the requirements set by the Green SL ® Rating System for Sustainable Cities, the developed framework is centered around three primary walkability factors: 1) Design and Infrastructure, 2) Safety and Traffic Conditions, and 3) Proximity and Land Uses. For empirical insights, a case study was conducted in the public transport district of Pettah in Colombo, Sri Lanka-a bustling economic center that integrates various public transportation services. This case study utilizes a qualitative analysis approach involving on-site observations and visual surveys, aiming to answer the central research question: "To what extent do the existing sidewalks and pedestrian facilities within public transport districts promote walkability?". The findings from the case study reveal a significant gap: despite favorable proximity and land use attributes, inadequacies in design, infrastructure, safety, and traffic conditions collectively contribute to suboptimal walkability conditions within the case study area, rendering these spaces less favorable for pedestrian activities. It is expected that the findings will provide guidelines for respected parties to increase the efficiency of walking and the quality of pedestrian environments, ultimately resonating with the broader aspiration for sustainable cities.

Lack of Safety on Roads becomes a major issue in the developed and developing world due to over population of humans as well as vehicles, which lead to many fatal incidents than any other course. There are many factors which affects accidents on roads and among those factors, the 'Driving behavior' plays a crucial role in Road Safety. Driving is an action of humans, which allows him/her motion through space from place to place. The road landscape creates the character and the spatial quality, of the space that the driver move through. The rate of information gathered from the surrounding context is vital to decide the driving safe. The accuracy of the information for a safe driving action depends on the visual perception of the driver. 'Southern Expressway', which was introduced recently, allowed people to move quickly from Western to Southern destinations of Sri Lanka and time to time accidents were also recorded. So, the spatial qualities of the existing road landscape might have impacted on the accidents happened on Southern Highway from its initiation, which was the hypothesis of the research. The study focused on identifying the spatial characteristics of Southern Highway by Data collection and Data analysis. Data is collected by two means, then analyzed based on accidents recorded and "Black-Spots" were identified, live recording of the expressway was analyzed to understand the spatial characteristics in the identified 'Black-spots'. In conclusion, the study focus on to analyze the significant spatial characteristics of Road Landscape in Southern highway, and reveal that there is a direct influence from the spatial characteristics in identified accident Black-spots. The study conclude to analyze only three spatial characteristics, due to the scope and time limitations and there is an opportunity to further studies in many other spatial characteristics in road landscape.

Urban parks are introduced to create healthy living environments in urbanized areas. Blue spaces and Green spaces are two relative terms, but with different meanings, used in urban parks. The two spaces collectively play an important role in achieving health and well-being through urban parks. The study is focused on the blue spaces in urban parks. Health and well-being is a widely discussed field in research. Main three pillars of human well-being identified as, mental well-being, physical well-being and social well-being. The main objective of the study is highlighting the importance of blue spaces in urban parks to human well-being under three categories, mental, physical and social well-being. The study designed as a non-systematic qualitative research, by analyzing three urban parks in Colombo city as case studies. The data collected through maps, photographs and observations. The data analyzed as a parallel analysis with three case studies.
