Salinah Jaafar
Born on 24th December 1968. Associate Professor at Malay Linguistics Department, Academy of Malay Studies, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. PhD in Malay Lexicology. Specialization: Translation, Semantics, Lexicology, Lexicography. She obtained her bachelor degree in Malay Language in 1991 and pursued her MA and PhD in Lexicology in 1998 and 2008 respectively. While doing her PhD, she was attached to Center of Academic Research for English (CARE), at Department of English at University of Birmingham for 6 months. She is a well-accomplished lecturer and speaker in Malay Linguistics and Translation, and contributed many research works to the field. Driven by her dedication in the teaching and nurturing of Malaysia’s future scholars, she takes pride in her work in providing the best quality of teaching and knowledge sharing. In addition to her normal duties, Salinah Jaafar is known by many for her exemplary commitment in her research interest, publication and participation in seminars and conferences both locally and globally. She is now serves as director at Academy of Malay Studies, due to that she is also skilled in making informed decisions when recruiting and promoting staff, and creating detailed curriculum reviews. Apart from that, she is also actively involves in FRGS research on Pragmatics, Ethnic Relation, Malay Corpus Development, Computational Linguistics and Hadith Translation. She has served as a lecturer in University of Malaya for almost 30 years and has never lost her drive and passion, striving for constant improvement in her work.
