Directions & Parking for the Maine Marathon
Directions
The race starts and finishes at Pedro Field 55 Baxter Boulevard, between Forest Avenue and Preble Street Extension.
The University of Southern Maine eliminated free parking in all of their lots and garages last year. The Maine Marathon has identified over 500 more spaces of free parking off Marginal Way, InterMed building garage at 84 Marginal Way, AAA parking lot and the USPS parking lot on Marginal Way next to Intermed. There is parking in the Back Cove lot across from Hannaford.
One can park on city streets at Deering Oaks Park and the surrounding neighborhoods Time limits are not enforced on Sundays.
Please plan to arrive by 6:30 AM so that you can avoid heavy traffic and find a convenient place to park.
Avoid Exit 6B off Rt 295 to Forest Ave north, since traffic is typically significant and slow. Consider alternate routes by exiting Rt 295 at Exit 5 or 7. Please do not park in the Hannaford shopping center lot, which is reserved for store customers.

Bike Parking at USM
If you live locally, we encourage you to ride your bike to the expo and on race day to run, volunteer, or cheer! Biking reduces traffic congestion and helps reduce the race’s carbon footprint. The University of Southern Maine has bike racks located across the Portland campus that you can use. Be sure to bring a lock to keep your bike secure. And please do not park your bike in or around the Start/Finish area of the race.
