Is used as a value of this properties: SparQL (18 results)
- Main usage - instanceOf, 201 832 items.
Has 126 direct subclasses, 1171 sub-subclasses, 2929 overall: SparQL (1298 results), Wikidata Graph Builder
- Some misuses can be noticed even at the first level;
- How many instances each of the subclasses have (706 939 overall): SparQL
- Almost 3000 subclasses is huge, even though there are also a duplicating 'literary genre' and 'literary form' hierarchies. Seems like this item has no well-defined meaning;
- After removing song (Q7366) subtree it lost 451 nodes, from 2929 to 2478.
Rating of properties among direct instances: SparQL
These items are non-direct instances of literary work: SparQL (308 results)
- Probably significant amount of them misused instanceOf property, because it's only 0,1% comparing to direct instances of literary work (Q7725634);
- Instances which also have instances themself: SparQL.
- Is used as a value of this properties: Query (22 results)
- It seems to be a confusion of how to use it - as an instanceOf (2468) or as a genre (1033).
- Full subclasses graph: SparQL
- There are subclasses for russian and japanese fairy tales, but not for 200 other countries. Speaking of assigning properties for actual fairy tales, I believe these subclasses shouldn't be used, because there is a country of origin (P495) property.
- There are none non-direct instances of it, which is good: Query (1 results)
- There are 106 instances of subclasses of fairy tale (Q699): Query (106 results)
- Half of them are instances of Rondalla (Q11946197), which pretty much looks like synonym for a fairy tales in catalanian language.
- To find all fairy tales on wikidata you should look for all direct instances of fairy tale (Q699) + all instances of any of it's subclasses + all literary works with a genre = fairy tale, which is counter-intuitive and simply cannot be done because of timeouts: Query (timeouts)
- Different from folk tale (Q1221280) which can't have an author.
- Also there is a literary fairy tale (Q24723) tale type (Q47451145) traditional story (Q7832362).
- Nobody knows how to properly use this item: there are 1142 direct instances and 743 items with genre (P136) = encyclopedia (Q5292);
- Encyclopedia is already a subclass of a written work (Q47461344) and fits nicely in here under 'reference work': Query
- This is what people usually choose to use as 'instance of' for encyclopedias: Query (109 results);
- Top-used value is encyclopedia (Q5292) which is natural (1149);
- Second usage is written work (Q47461344) which is also correct, but a broader category (308);
- Third is literary work (Q7725634) which is probably wrong, because this item is used for 'creative works created with aesthetic or recreative purposes' (248).
- Right now every encyclopedia in Wikidata has an implicit literary genre, but cannot be considered as a literature work, which is unnatural.
instance of literary genre (Q223393) & subclass of written work (Q47461344)
edit- Is it different concepts?
- There are 1208 direct instances of 'literary genre' + 1766 subclasses of this instances: Query (2974 results).
- There are 70 direct subclasses of written work + 956 sub-subclasses: Query (1026 results);
- Notice huge literary work (Q7725634) sub-tree Query (1314 results).
- Literary genres by presence in genre (P136) property: SparQL
- Literary genres which are used in 'instance of' property: SparQL.
- literary form (Q4263830)'s which are used in 'genre' property: SparQL.
Should be merged
