As an Assistant Professor, Secondary Education, I am a university instructor and educational researcher and evaluator with a Ph.D. in Instructional Design, Development and Evaluation (IDD&E), as well as master's degrees in IDD&E and Secondary Education, English. My courses taught include "Classroom Management and Instructional Design for Secondary Teachers," "Secondary English Methods," "Advanced Field Experiences for Secondary Teachers," and "Classroom Assessment."
My primary research interest is instructional and assessment practices in K-12 education to improve student learning (i.e., formative assessment), particularly their use and teachers’ perceptions of their efficacy in secondary English/language arts. Other interests include: formative assessment’s relationship to formative evaluation, developmental evaluation, and program evaluation; K-12 pre-service and in-service teacher training and learning; mixed methods approaches in educational evaluation; the role of context in teaching, research and evaluation; and the nature of exemplary evaluations. I have a range of teaching experiences, including secondary English/language arts, undergraduate, and graduate students, and have taught in face-to-face, hybrid, and wholly online learning environments.
