"This inhuman place makes human monsters."

I respect Gary Dauberman’s adaptation of Salem’s Lot. Similar to Kubrick’s adaptation of The Shining, it leaves out material from the book (and applies variations where he needs to for this film to move the way it does), and it manages to find a nice blend of what worked best in the book with imaginative, clever visual storytelling. There are more than a few frames and camera tricks I’m still thinking about. Did I miss some of the story from the book? Sure. But not that much. This is a perfectly fun and spooky Friday night horror flick that horror/King fans will appreciate.
