Still excellent the second time around.
I did feel the runtime a bit more on this watch especially the crazy cooking session.
The practical effects really are amazing and stood out to me a bit more on this watch. Also Demi Moore's performance is incredible here. On first watch I did not give her enough credit for her acting once she becomes seriously deformed. The earings scene towards the end is still hilarious.
There is so little dialogue in this film but the story is so interesting. The visuals do such a good job of explaining the rules of The Substance. For example the food bags they just show you what they do they don't explain it. The ending does go overboard for sure but I gotta give it up for this movie willing to be so over the top and surreal.
I'm still keeping this at 4.5 stars because I have some minor nit picks like the runtime and the movie's message feeling a bit too heavy handed in the end, but this is definitely one of the best films of the year.
