Name change: "Bassus Electricus" or "Bassus Chitara"
[fontem recensere]In my opinion the correct name of the page must be "Bassus Electricus" You see in languages that emerged from Latin, this instrument is called something like this:
- - Spanish: Bajo Eléctrico (or simply Bajo) (we Spanish speakers don't commonly used the literal translation from English "Guitarra Bajo" or "Bajo de Guitarra")
- - Portuguese: Baixo elétrico (also contrabaixo elétrico, viola baixo, baixão or simply baixo)
- - French: Basse Eléctrique (though the official French Wikipedia calls it Guitare basse) (also I investigate and I discovered that people commonly calls it simply Basse)
- - Italiano: Basso Elettrico or simply Basso.
- - German (though not a language that emerged from Latin, but anyways have Latin influence): Bassgitarre or Elektrische Bass

- An encyclopedic way of doing it would be to specify the instrument fully at first mention (the lemma) but then optionally to use a common but imprecise term later. Otherwise, we ask "a bass what?" A bass clarinet? A bass drum? So that gives you the lemma cithara bassa electrica. (Gravis would keep the diction classical, avoiding the medievalism bassus -a -um, but that's a question for another day.) Also problematic with a lemma bassus electricus is that a truly comprehensive encyclopedia needs to have an article on the nonelectrified bass guitar, possibly cithara bassa acustica or just plain cithara bassa.
