Richard II (Shakesperius)
Richard II (titulo pleno The Tragedie of King Richard II) est fabula historica a Gulielmo Shakesperio composita. Edita est in quarto anno 1597, bis anno 1598, rursus 1608 et 1615, et in editione in folio (titulo Mr. William Shakespeares Comedies, Histories & Tragedies) anno 1623 complexa. Narrantur anni ultimi Ricardi II regis, usurpatio Henrici Bolingbroke, Ricardique mors.
Fons principalis historicus quo usus est Shakesperius fuit Raphaëlis Holinshed Chronica, cuius editio altera anno 1587 prodit.[1] Insuper perlegerat ut videtur Eduardi Hall Union of the Two Noble Families of Lancaster and York, a Ricardo Grafton auctam, annis 1548 et 1550 divulgatam;[2] etiam Samuelis Daniel carmen epicum de bellis civilibus Anglicis;[3] etiam fabulam paulo antea compositam, Thomas of Woodstock nuncupatam (nisi Shakesperius ipse cum aliis hanc fabulam confecisset).[4]
