There are many translations of the term ambidexterity in Polish scientific literature. Some authors refer to this form of management as organisational two-handedness, universality, bilaterality, duality or bipolarity, while others leave the English name. The aim of the article is to compare theories of the phenomenon based on systematic literature review and linguistic meanings of Polish terms.

This article presents the concept of subcultures, which has been neglected in Polish
literature and organization research. Based on the metaphor: ‘organization is a subculture
mosaic’, part of a knowledge-based organization surrounded by high technology
has been explored. The qualitative research was conducted among the engineers
employed in the organization, with the use of interviews and participant observation
techniques. The elements of the grounded theory and hermeneutical interpretation
methodology were used to conduct an empirical analysis. As a result, the existence
of an “enhancing subculture" was discovered – a key component of the ‘dominant
culture’ in an organization. The role of intercultural communication in the organization
processes has also been demonstrated.

There is an unflagging interest of the scientific world in management to discovering theoretical perspectives and searching for reflections on practices of organizing. However, most approaches describing management from the communication point of view are either omitted or insufficiently explored. Metaphor is a medium of notion transfer which, through the mechanism of transferring meanings, can give a new picture in the implementation of management practices. On the basis of quantitative and qualitative analyzes, the study presents an outline of the leading metaphors used in organizational sciences. The purpose of the research is to disseminate knowledge about metaphors and to fill the gap in Polish literature in the discipline of management and organization.

Motivation: The author is interested in the problem of the economic development of a state wherein economic capital is described as a set of elements creating economic culture and informal institutions. Aim: Identification of the operational conditions and manifestations of institutional economics in Germany may obtain an accurate picture and understanding of the functioning their counterparts in Poland. Article is also a proposal for the development of research in the field of institutional economics and economic culture. Results: Putting the thesis that the German economy belongs to the group of the strongest in the world, the study revealed a pattern of results where the institutions were proposed as part of institutional economics, which determine economic development.

The aim of the article is to present the neglected issue of creativity in organizations in Poland in the context of the knowledge workers' environment.  For instance, software development processes demonstrated the possibilities of expanding functional flow with creative problem solving (CPS) operations, Also, there were presented empirical works and creative techniques used, which contributed to finding new and unique problem solutions. The text can be a theoretical background for undertaking empirical research in the field of creativity in the organization and contribute to filling knowledge gaps in Polish literature on creativity in knowledge-based organizations.

Artykuł ma na celu przedstawienie zaniechanej w literaturze polskiej koncepcji ludzkich potrzeb w kontekście projektowania produktów i usług w dziedzinie wysokich technologii. W opisie wykorzystano teoretyczny model metody Design Thinking oraz empiryczne przykłady jego zastosowania. W analizach szczególny nacisk położono na sposoby odkrywania ludzkich potrzeb zgodnie ze współczesną teorią oraz na rozwinięcie podejścia w odniesieniu do celów życiowych. Tekst stanowi teoretyczne zaplecze do badań empirycznych studium przypadku w obszarze inżynierii oprogramowania w sorganizacji opartej na wiedzy. Wypełnia lukę wiedzy w polskiej literaturze na temat zastosowania metody Design Thinking w organizacjach z branży high-tech.

Text describes the use of the Design Thinking method in innovative workshops conducted for students of Warsaw universities. In the action, a Persona technique was utilized in the Empathization stage. In the course of the workshop, implemented elements of the Design Thinking technique and an overview of alternative possibilities of solving the problem were described. Based on the workshop stu-dent’s activities, the model of prototypes were presented. Article is the starting point for a broader research on the use of the Design Thinking method and its impact on the design of innovative solutions in the academic environment.

The massive inflow of migrants into the Europe that started in mid-2015 confronted the EU and its member states with huge challenges. The most important measures which were taken on the multiple levels are presented and analysed in this paper.
