This is perfect. It’s like a reminder of how to play pretend like children do. (Also known as ‘I spent Tuesday playing the role of the maybe-evil-queen and at least three unnamed NPCs and reminding the kids which things they didn’t know as their characters. Kids are excellent LARPers when someone is there to remind them of the rules in use.)
Thanks so much! This is indeed basically how I run games for my kid, except with dice, and 5 minutes of mandatory dice sorting beforehand, by her decree.
I told them that I’m going to teach them how to use dice to make playing more fair for when someone is trying to be sneaky or tricky or whatever. The oldest tends to want to run right over the younger ones and say that he figures out whatever plan that they have and basically wins everything. 🤦🏼♀️
I genuinely love this. It's hard for me to imagine a more distilled version of what TTRPGs are. This is as elemental as it gets.

Oh wow, I really dig these! Feels like I kind of reinvented the wheel now that I've seen Instant RPG, but let's go with "great minds think alike." :)
It is the latter for sure! The RPS mechanic is gaining popularity in a bunch of places without cross-pollination, like some zeitgeist thingamy!
