Although there are numerous studies on IT implementation projects worldwide, studies on Indian projects are relatively few. Moreover, the studies on Indian government or R&D organizations are rather low as well. Hence the case studies of two IT projects in publically funded R&D labs have been taken up to understand the importance of these factors in Indian context. It was identified that factors like management support, project & change management, clear understanding of the user requirements, composition & location of team, and professional attitude & commitment play very important role in defining the outcome of any IT project and hence should be taken care of. These factors are also in agreement with those identified in other studies.
