Hi there, are you experiencing what you believe to be a bug?

Please follow these steps so we can effectively resolve the issue.

THIS IS NOT A DISCUSSION ZONE, ANY RESPONSE WILL BE MADE ONLY BY STUPID MASSIVE UNBELIEVABLE GAMES

-Include a description of the issue. Not just, "This is broken", something more like "A black window opens and the text 'game over' appears and the game freezes."

-Include a link to a screenshot or video of the issue if possible. If you don't know how to take a screenshot, this may help.

-Include the specifications of your machine. Required specifications are: Your processor speed and model number, the amount of RAM installed and the standard (DDR3, DDR4, etc...), your operating system (and version when applicable), your graphics processor and video RAM amount, and if you have a laptop the model number of that laptop.

For example (These are not the base requirements to run BRKÖUT) :

Processor: Intel i7 3770k 3.4 GHz

RAM: 8GB DDR3

OS: Windows 10, 64 bit

Graphics: Nvidia GTX 970 4GB GDDR5

Desktop

Thanks for reporting! We will try as quickly as we can to help you.

I've reached a point in the game where it says it needs to create an image file on my computer desktop in order to continue. Unfortunately, it is not creating the file even after trying all of the following: moving the game to a new directory, running it as an administrator, and giving the application full permissions. Since it is impossible for me to progress the game further without the created files, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

First of all, thanks for playing! You've gotten pretty far if you're at this point (or you've found one of a few shortcuts... shhh!!) so I hope you've been enjoying the game and you're not too put off by the vague weirdness of it all.

It's been a few years since I updated the game, so I'm afraid I can't offer you an update that will fix this issue immediately because I'm no longer familiar with how it all works. I do know that the flag to continue can be triggered if you simply have the folders on your desktop (assuming your desktop is accessible for files). You will still have to do what the game asks.

Download this ZIP: https://drive.google.com/file/d/124EsYDqeWkTzpXe8Qsd8etA3n3rTGlbZ/view?usp=shari...
It has the folder the game is supposed to generate on your desktop. Simply extract this to the desktop as is (do not put it into a subfolder or anywhere else).

If this doesn't work, I will look into a bypass solution or attempt to fix the issue. Let me know!

I tried this and when I went back into the game, it just replays that I need to copy the folder. I downloaded the folder twice just to be sure it wasn't me, but it still doesn't seem to be working. Any help would be appreciated, fantastic game so far, I'm definitely intrigued

Developer

Hi,

Have you done what the game asks? You have to do something in the folder to continue.

If it is still not working, then that is a critical bug I will need to fix. Looks like I will need to put out an update pretty soon O_O

Thanks for reporting!

I have unfortunately, thanks for responding so quickly though!

When I reach the part of the game where the voice in the machine needs the user's help to get admin permission, it seems like everything breaks. It does the rainbow wipe screen transition, and for a moment I can see what I assume to be the key level, but then it does the transition again and puts me on one of the previous message screens (the one about the throat cancer catching up to him, and something about his progeny). After that's done, a mostly white screen (screenshot) appears with music in the background; when I press space dialogue noises happen, but nothing appears on the screen. So far this has happened twice now, and every time I reload the game I have to start back at the last BRKOUT level before all the exposition. Hopefully there's an easy fix, things were just getting good :(

Processor: Intel i5-5200U 2.2 GHz

RAM: 8GB (unsure of what type, i can't find any specification)

OS: Windows 10, 64 bit

Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 5500

Laptop: Dell Inspiron 3558

Thanks!

Hi, thanks for playing!

Unfortunately, this is an issue that occurs with save states in the game, and for some reason this happens to some players. This issue usually only occurs on the Steam version, and can sometimes be fixed by just doing it over and over again. I realize that this is not workable and frustrating. I have looked into this issue many times before and Construct 2 does not offer robust enough debugging tools for me to figure out exactly what is causing this issue. This was my first "big game" and it's likely I made a mistake somewhere, but it's unlikely that I'll be able to find it in time to get an update out soon.

I apologize, please let me know if you do progress eventually, but I also understand if you'd rather drop it.

Side note: I will be pushing an update that will allow people to erase their save shortly. Perhaps the update may solve your issue, but it may only help if you restart :(
There are some shortcuts in the game though! If you are stuck here then I can take you to the next phase of the game without too much time lost hopefully. Please let me know if you would like to know, as it is a bit of a mechanic spoiler in my opinion.

Thank you for the reply! I think I'll try bruteforcing it a few times; ideally I'd like to experience the game as blind as possible.

hi! I'm having this exact issue (I finish the exposition adventure levels and then just get put right back at the start of the adventure levels); I would actually really appreciate the shortcut to the next part of the game so I can keep playing.

I'm having this issue as well, but am playing from Itch.io. I'm not one to repeat progress, so I'd like the skip. Maybe maake a link to a pge saaying how to skip. Thanks!

I'm in the same boat, and after several tries am uninclined to continue repeating the same section. Is there any chance you would be willing to help me get to the next section? The game is interesting, but I had to stop after reaching this dead end

I seem to have the same problem as DemoMash, regarding the"VIC_30_SYS_DUMP" file. Even while I have the file downloaded from the google drive, I encounter the same thing  as them.

Here's my system stuff:

Processor: Intel Core i5-8250U

RAM: 8GB

OS: Windows 10, 64 bit

Graphics: Intel UHS 620

Laptop: Ideapad 330S

Perhaps it's an issue with Lenovo, or laptops in general? Either way, from what I've played, it's a phenomenal game, i definitely dig the aesthetic, and the little spin that's put on breakout makes it super enjoyable, even disregarding the story, not to mention when adventure is thrown in the mix.

Please see my response to DemoMash. be sure you're doing what the game asks, this is supposed to be a little bit of a puzzle.

If you have done as the game asks , then it looks like there are some serious issues so I will have to put out an update soon to hopefully fix these issues D:

Hey friend!

First of all I'm loving the game - it instantly stood out to me in the bundle (reminded me of how much I love the "Pony Island" type games!)

I'm also having trouble with the files. I believe I've done what the computer says unless it's not as easy as "modifying" one file? When I boot the game back up it takes me right back to the last BRKOUT level (I've done it multiple times in case it was part of the gameplay) and restarts the whole game sequence with the floppy disk and the guy and I don't know if its meant to???

Hopefully you can shed some light on this because I really want to finish it I'm so intrigued! :(

Update:

having the same issue as uwucowboy - I brute forced it thrice and it just crashes before it starts the key levels :(

System stuffs:

Laptop: Asus notepad pc

Processor/graphics: AMD A9-9425 RADEON R5

RAM: 8GB

OS: windows

Thanks a bunch!
